How to be Saved

God’s Design

God created humanity with the design that every person be in a living and loving relationship with Him. You are completely loved by God. He wants to be in relationship with YOU. In other words, you do not exist to live your life without God.

● John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

The Broken Design

Sin is disobedience against God, and it breaks the design that God has for humanity. Sin has broken God’s design for YOU. Sin started at the very beginning of human history with Adam and Eve. Their sin broke the perfect relationship they had with God. Their sin, like a terminal disease, caused all of humanity to be born with a sinful nature against God. Sin brings death. Every one of us are born sinners. All of the bad things in the world like sickness, murder, wars, abuse, violence, addictions, and broken families can be linked to sin. More than anything, sin has broken God’s design of humanity’s relationship with Him.

● Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.”

● Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

● Romans 6:23 “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

The Restored Design

God knew that humanity would willingly disobey Him, so before sin was ever a problem, He planned the solution to restore His design. Because of God’s love for us, He sent His only Son Jesus as a man to live the perfect life that we could never live. Jesus was perfect in every way, yet God took the penalty of sin of all humanity upon His Son. Jesus took YOUR sin upon Himself on the cross so He could restore His relatio nship with you. Jesus took your sin in order to give you His righteousness.

What is God looking for from you? He made it as simple as A, B, C. ADMIT to Him that you are a sinner in need of the Savior, His Son Jesus. BELIEVE with all your heart that Jesus took your sin penalty on Himself on the cross, and that He rose from the dead three days later –Jesus is alive. CONFESS with your mouth that you believe and receive Jesus into your life to be your Savior and Lord.

You can say this simple prayer as a help “Dear God, I thank You for loving me. Right now, I admit to You that I am a sinner. I believe with all my heart that You sent Your Son Jesus to die for my sins, and that He rose from the dead. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart to forgive me, cleanse me from all my sins. I give You my broken life and I receive Your perfect life. I confess that You are my Savior and Lord from this day forward. Amen.”

● John 3:17-19 “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.”

● Romans 10:9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

How to Live for God

How to Live for God

God’s Design

God’s design of how to live for Him is through the same process by which we become God’s children – by grace (free gift) through faith alone in Jesus Christ and His saving death and resurrection.  We can’t save ourselves from sin, and we can’t live victoriously over sin in our own strength. Just like getting saved, we live for God with complete dependence daily in what Jesus has accomplished for us on the cross.  The Holy Spirit works in our hearts and changes us into the character of Jesus as we live by faith in Him.

● Colossians 2:6 states “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.”

● Romans 1:16-17 “16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘The just shall live by faith.’”

With faith in Christ as our foundation, we have the privilege of having a living and loving relationship with God as our heavenly Father. He loves us more than we could ever know. His Holy Spirit lives inside us influencing our hearts and minds to talk with God in prayer. As well, to read God’s Word and treat it as our spiritual food for our faith. Along with prayer and Bible reading, going to church, witnessing, giving, praise and worship are all “tools of God’s grace” that God uses to strengthen our faith and relationship with Him.

 ● Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

 ● Matthew 4:4 “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

The Broken Design

Just like sin caused God’s design for humanity and every individual to be broken, so trusting in ourselves will hinder God’s design for us to live for Him. Trusting in ourselves can manifest itself in many and varied ways. For some, it can manifest through trusting in our good works (prayer, Bible reading, church attendance, giving…) as the means of being right with God. For others, trusting in ourself can be seen in our pride and desire for worldly pleasures. Whatever way our misplaced faith manifests, it will lead to a life of frustration, defeat, and even bondages to sin. That is not God’s plan for any child of God.

● Galatians 2:21 “I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law (self, works), then Christ died in vain.”

● Galatians 3:1-3 “O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? 2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?

The broken design is that we get our focus on ourselves rather than on Jesus’ work on the cross on our behalf. It is very important that we fuel our faith with God’s word and prayer. Along with church attendance and giving. But with our faith firmly established in God’s work for us through His Son Jesus rather than ourselves.

The Restored Design

The restored design is when the believer leaves trusting in self, even trusting good works, and trusts solely in Christ’s death on the cross as the only means by which God gives us His blessings. The restored design is that we come to God daily with all our needs and with all our gratitude for Him. He loves us. We are His own. We can lay aside worldly pleasures that weaken our relationship with God, and put on His love, joy, peace, and victory.  Through the influence of the Holy Spirit Who lives inside of us, and the influence of God’s word, we can live the life God created us to live. It’s a life in which our “old self” has been crucified with Christ, and our
“new self” has been risen to life with Christ. We are to live every day with this wonderful understanding of God, His Son Jesus, and His Holy Spirit. I encourage to read the Gospel of John and then the Book of Romans. These are two great books of the Bible to begin and/or revive your life with God.

 ● Luke 9:23-24 “23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.”

 ● Romans 6:5-6 “5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.”

Ephesians 2:8-9 “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

● Hebrews 12:1-2 “1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
